grandparents album

in honor of grandparents day, i decided to make my in-laws a mini album of them and jarron.

(see the inside...)

the binder came with only six pages, which i didn't think was enough, so i added three more. refill chipboard pages for the bare naked binder are sold in packs of six. if you cut the paper efficiently, you will have more than enough for the additional three pages (i.e., six sides). i got the quotes i used on the pages from the scrapbook.com library, which i've found to be a very useful resource. i printed the quotes on white cardstock, trimmed them down, and then inked the edges. i attached them to the pages using foam adhesive to add dimension.

materials used:
bo-bunny "grandparents brag book" kit
bo-bunny 6x6 bare naked binder refills
bo-bunny flex ruler
bo-bunny sanding boards
ek success "folk heart" whale of a punch
clearsnap colorbox fluid chalk (azurite, tangerine, rouge, olive pastel)
ek success 3D dots (i.e., foam adhesive)
glue dots mini

review: purple cows 2-in-1 combo trimmer

» purple cows 2-in-1 combo trimmer (#1040), msrp $69.95

  • this thing is HEAVY. really. i've decided to nickname it "the beast".

  • it is also LONG. even if you take just the rotary trimmer with you, it is still about 4" longer than the fiskars 12" euro personal paper trimmer, which already barely fits into my scrapping tote.

  • the smallest measurement on the guide is ¾" (on the rotary trimmer)... which sucks if you'd like to cut a strip of paper narrower than that. they could have easily put a guide on the other side of the rotary blade.

  • the swing-out guide on the rotary trimmer only goes up to 8½" (the one on the fiskars goes all the way out to 15½").
  • it come with three blades (on the rotary trimmer) - straight, wavy, and perforated - that are easily interchangeable.

  • there are guides for popular photo and page sizes.

  • this trimmer makes the straightest cuts i've seen so far.

  • each trimmer has a mechanism that holds the paper down in place.

  • the two trimmers separate so that you can take the smaller rotary trimmer to crops and such.

bo bunny desk calendar

well, i finally finished working on my bo-bunny desk calendar. originally, i was planning to work on this during a class at my local scrapbook store, but i couldn't make it, so i decided to just purchase the kit and work on it at home during my free time. i don't understand how the class lasted only two hours long, when it took me the free time over a period of about a month to finish it! selecting the right pictures alone was already quite a challenge, as i wanted to find pictures that not only corresponded with the month, but also whose colors matched (somewhat) the papers for that month.

(see the inside...)

if you've seen this calendar before, you might have noticed that mine looks a little different... actually, i didn't like the paper that was designated for the front (i.e., "regatta mini stripe" which can be seen in the july spread), so i decided to use "blueberrie paisley" and "blueberrie dot" from bo-bunny's blueberrie pie collection.

bo-bunny "deluxe desk calendar binder album" class kit
