to boldly go…

OMG CAN'T WAIT

Here’s what Gene [Roddenberry] said in an interview just before he died in August 1991; somebody had asked him, ‘What’s going to become of Star Trek in the future?’ And he said that he hoped that someday some bright young thing would come along and do it again, bigger and better than he had ever done it. And he wished them well.

i waited (not-so-) patiently for this day to come ever since i found out there would be a new trek film.

my first car keychain was a miniature phaser… i own a klingon dictionary… the nickname i first went by on the internet was “imzadi“… in my younger days i attended conventions… i had a “starfleet academy” sticker on my car window, right next to my UCLA one… i own a communicator pin… i have the symbol of the klingon empire tattooed on my back… yes, i am “one of those”.

jon warned me that having too high of expectations could lead to disappointment, but i couldn’t help but have HIGH expectations for this film. i was expecting this film to completely blow me away.

put simply, i was blown away. i was reminded of what i loved about star trek… i LOVED chris pine’s portrayal of kirk… LOVED zachary quinto as spock… i wanted to cheer when the enterprise first appeared on the screen. j.j. abrams did an AMAZING job. i don’t think i could write a well thought out, coherent review of this film without turning it into a gushfest.

all i can think about right now is that i want to watch it again. IMAX, anyone?
