cricut crazy

Saturday, November 28, 2009 @ 10:50am

well, i got sucked into the cricut craze…  something i didn’t imagine would ever happen.  a few years ago, when deciding on a cutting machine, i went with the xyron wishblade.  while the initial cost was significantly more, what attracted me to it was that after buying the machine, i would never had to spend another dime on cartridges, files, etc.  it can cut letters from any TTF installed on the computer, and i’m tech/art-savvy enough to create .gsd files for just about anything else i would want to cut.

enter the michaels and joann black friday ads…  joann had the basic cricut advertised for $75.  for $75 (plus the $5,000 or so i will probably spend on cartridges later on 8-} ) i decided to take the plunge.  i went to michaels thursday evening to pick up some cartridges, and there i found they had the same machine on sale for $70.  needless to say, it came home with me, along with two cartridges.  yesterday afternoon, i ordered three more cartridges online from somewhere else.

let the insanity begin…

making a list…

Friday, November 27, 2009 @ 08:47am

so today is black friday. i have no plans of even leaving the house today (unless it’s something like going to the grocery store this afternoon to pick up a gallon of milk). for the most part we’ve decided what we’re getting everyone, and we’re doing most (if not all) of our shopping online. sitting in front of the computer while in my pajamas and sipping hot cocoa sure beats fighting over parking spaces and $4 sweats.

in celebration of the biggest shopping day of the year, i’m making my list of (random) things “i want for christmas”…

  • perfect brownie baking pan
  • box grater
  • rice krispies treats cereal, delivered twice a month :P
  • mandoline slicer that doesn’t suck
  • pau gasol away jersey (junior fit)

i believe this is actually the first time jon and i have cooked thanksgiving dinner. (we’ve always gone to someone else’s house.) we had bbq turkey legs, green bean casserole, and mashed sweet potatoes.

“sew what?” saturday: dodgers uniform

Saturday, November 21, 2009 @ 09:25am

i made the cap, top, and pants. the ball, glove, and bat are “borrowed” from a retired AG outfit. the cap didn’t quite turn out as i had hoped, but i can live with it.
