AI, chicago auditions

i really liked john park. (so did shania. LOL)

the “tiptoe through the tulips” guy o_O when kara asked him “anything we need to know?” i got the sense that she was not asking what he was going to sing…

curley newbern singing something about “a woman’s work” (or “a woman’s worth?”). HIGH voice. “do you find when you sing at home, a lot of animals turn up outside the house?” =))

o_O at the broadway girl with the ryan seacrest obsession, who i honestly thought passed out at the beginning of her audition. o_O

nobody else was memorable for me. (or perhaps i was just too distracted by the picture of DC on the backdrop.)

AI, atlanta auditions

i like the vanessa girl from tennessee who jumps off bridges… dolly parton -type of voice. she seemed genuine and i thought she was adorable.

the “skii bo ski” guy was bizarre. o_O the guitar girl was just silly.

ROFL at dewone robinson “LAAAAADY I KNOWWWWW YOU” =)) i had a feeling when he started talking about how music was in his blood that he wasn’t going to be very good. “dewone, did you write that song as a duet?” “no sir, not a duet, sir” “you were singing both parts” “yes, i was singing both parts” HELLO, THAT IS A DUET. singing “it’s over, it’s over…” as he went down the elevator.

the welder from… mississippi(?)… “i almost died three times in the last… my whole life!” appropriately, mary was dying watching this guy’s performance. =)) “if anyone’s going to survive welding, it’s you”

the guy who was in love with mary j. blige and had an anger management problem… “LA LA LA LA LA LA”… it just kills me when someone has already been told they can’t sing, and then they insist on singing another song. i love the expression on simon’s face every time this happens.

PANTS ON THE GROUND. \:D/

hey, look! i’m watching AI!

Wednesday, January 13, 2010 @ 08:59am

so last night i watched american idol for the first time. through eight seasons so far, i never thought i would watch this show, but when we were in orlando we ended up seeing the american idol experience more times than any normal person should so we decided to give it a try.

so far i like justin williams (blue eyes, good looking, nice voice) and the cute dark-haired girl (i think her name was katie?) who sang “at last” but none of the other good ones stood out for me. what i did remember were the really BAD ones. :))

ROFL at the pink girl jumping off the walls in the restroom, thought kara was paula, and honestly thought that she could make it on this show because she beat a video game.

“womanizer”/”HOLLA”/”sassy simon” guy who brought all his friends. i don’t know what some of these people are thinking. i think it’s safe to say that if you show up to this thing and sing “womanizer” (or anything by britney spears, for that matter) that you don’t want to be taken seriously.

the blonde surfer looking guy who said his style was like the eagles and chris brown o_O (is that even possible? that’s like if i said that my style is like chrissie hynde and bernadette peters.) “you don’t sound like chris brown, you don’t sound like the eagles… maybe an eagle.”

the anime girl who makes her own costumes and has two vocal coaches… (maybe she should fire them?) o_O

and of course my favorite “you sing like a three-year-old girl, you’re dressed like latoya jackson, and you have a beard”. :))

so… um… yeah… thanks for the picture of david cook 8-> on the backdrop, at least.

@ david cook concert
(picture stolen from jon because i neglected to take any of my own 8-} )

so last night we went to go see david cook in concert… i’d been really looking forward to this because: 1) it has been a while since i’d been to a concert, and 2) despite never having watched a single episode of american idol, i somehow managed to this guy.

we got there a little later than i had hoped. when we were on the way there i wasn’t worried because i assumed there was an opening act of some sort but apparently there wasn’t since we walked in as he was in the middle of “heroes”. anyway, the show was awesome… i think he sounds even better in person, found him to be very charismatic (and looked amazing :X ) … i would love to go see him again. \m/

this post doesn’t matter

(just like shaquille o’neal at the free throw line!)

it amuses me to no end that whose line is it anyway? is jordan’s favorite thing to watch. actually, both kids love it, although jarron is partial to the hoedowns and irish drinking songs (LOL). he even has his favorites (i.e., he’s memorized the words! :-O ). it’s so funny to watch the kids standing in front of the tv singing along and dancing.

initially, i watched the show only for wayne brady but now also appreciate everyone else on it; they’re all so brilliant. this is one of the few things that make me laugh to the point of tears. i wish the show were still going on so that i could see it live.

"the jordan kid"

first off, let me say that i LOVED it! :x it’s difficult to rank pixar films since they are all so amazing, but this is one of my favorites (my absolute favorite is cars). it was at moments humorous, tear-jerking, but fun all the way through.

magic… sorecery… illusion…

(but apparently not enough of it… :-< )

jarron wants to watch this.

i was a little disappointed by this… i think jarron was, too. (although, if you asked him afterwards if he liked the movie, he’d say “yes”. :-/ ) during the movie, he kept asking where cecil (dick van dyke) was. there were a lot of characters in the first movie who we grew to love, and although they were in the sequel, they only had small roles. instead, a lot of new characters were introduced, who i didn’t really care for. this movie could’ve been so much better. i would’ve loved to see attila, sacajawea, etc. battling kahmunrah… and what happened to rebecca? she wasn’t even mentioned.

looking forward to up next… i have high hopes (no pun intended) for that.
